Ahhh, a day off. So I figured I would do one of the projects I’ve been pinning all this time. This one seemed easy enough and not so time consuming (so that I could get things done at the same time).
I went based on pins and blog postings like this one. I went to Lowes and found a geometric, fun patterned medallion. New, they can cost about $20. I will probably try this again if I can find some salvaged ones.
After bringing home my loot, I set up my spray painting area. I used Valspar Peacock Blue. I sprayed one coat and made sure to get any nook and cranny that I could find. I let the first coat dry (went to do my other things) and came back to do the second coat.
After the second coat dried, I got out my trusty glue gun and glued the back of the mirror into the hole that’s meant for the chandelier mounting/chain. After all parts had fully dried (and I checked to make sure I really secured the mirror), I used a simple mounting hook and small brad. Since it’s not a traditional, vintage medallion, it’s plastic and much lighter. I’m happy with the outcome but I’m definitely going to get maybe some smaller ones or other things to fill out the wall. It’s just not quite enough! Eitherway, this was a fun and easy project for a day off.
Enjoy :-)
****PS**** This only cost me $27 for the full project. Mirrors from designer stores can cost upwards of $100.
